Carshalton U10s

2 Harry, Max

WSYL -  25th September 2005

Our first league game of the season resulted in a very disappointing first half performance with everyone playing well below their ability.

Worcester park scored from the first attack of the game which was within the first two minutes,  with us all still asleep and their forward being left on his own,  with all the time to smash  the ball past Josh. Their second goal was even easier, with their defender riding through three tackles and then having a choice of three unmarked players to pass to,  while we stood still and watched as they scored.

The least we say about our first half performance the better,  as we completely forgot about the basics of marking, tracking back and communication to each other.

After a stern half time talk from the management, the team picked themselves up and started to play. It wasn’t long before Harry pulled a goal back after a fine bit of passing opened up the Worcester Park defence leaving him to calmly slot the ball into the bottom corner.

The goal gave the boys a big lift and they now started to play as a team. Our defence of Connor, Jack T & Jack H were now winning the ball for our midfield duo of Liam & Mark to release the ball into the channels for Max and Harry to get behind their defence. It wasn’t too long before Max grabbed a deserved goal, following up on a rebound for his all round battling performance.

The boys were now competing everywhere in search of that winning goal with Cheznie delivering some lovely corners that we just couldn’t get that killer touch to.  As the game was coming to a close Worcester Park got back on top of the game creating a number of close chances that they just couldn’t finish off.

Overall a fair result on the balance of play,  although had we started the match as we should have,  all three points would probably have been ours.

A new addition to our supporters arrived on Friday morning , comgratulations to Carolyn, Michael & big brothers Jack L & Charlie on the safe arrival of Holly.
