WSYL - 2nd October 2005
Our first home game, and a very good team performance from the whole squad, from Josh in goal to hat trick hero Cheznie up front.
The only downside of our play was that we converted only one, out of the number of opportunities we created in the first half, finally being converted by Cheznie. This was also due to a number of saves from their goalkeeper, with too many of our efforts being too close to him, and their number 6 defender’s performance. Mark and Jack T bossed the midfield, nothing got passed Connor at the back, Harry getting behind the defence we looked a good solid team. This is the way we need to start every game with everyone working with each other and creating these kind of chances through simply passing and calling.
The second half continued much in the same way as the first, with Carshalton dominating the play and pinning Casuals into their half, with some fine passing moves. Our defence were winning every clearance Casuals made , but rather than just kick it goal bound as in previous games , were now looking to start the next attack with some nice simple passing moves and keeping possession. Jack L in particular had a great effort which went narrowly wide after winning the ball and attacking the open space Casuals had left him, before unleashing his shot. Liam was rewarded with the fourth goal for his all round work rate between both penalty areas. Man of the match Cheznie was a constant menace for Casuals with the pick of his goals being where he cut in from the wing , looked up before depositing the ball in the far top hand corner.
Big thank you to Keith for his offer to ref our home games.
Also I would like to praise Jack H for three solid performances and therefore our top performer for September – Well done.
