Inter League Cup -  16th October 2005

Our first defeat of the season against Premier Elite team Mole Valley Predators in the inter league cup 1st round.

A fair result against a well organised, strong, physical team as you would have expected with them being in the top division. It should have been a game where we could have seen if we could compete in the top division, unfortunately our first half performance was lacking the basics of defending again and with everyone not being awake, Predators turned round at half – time 3-0 to the good. If we are to play football at the next level then we all need to be switched on from the start, defend as a unit, shut down the opposition and fight for possession when they have the ball, which we are currently not doing.

We started the second half much the same way as the first, but gradually we started to get our game back together and compete. Cheznie pounced to score the first goal of the half after we had created a few close chances. Predators responded with two further goals and a period where we could not clear the ball from our half with Josh having another fine game in goal. Our second goal from Mark was probably the best goal of the game, where from the restart after Predators 5th goal,  they did not touch the ball as we opened them up with a superb passing move which left Mark alone to smash the ball into the net. It’s a shame it took us that long to start playing, as we know we can as a team.

Back to league action next week, so let's be ready from the start and compete for the whole game, as some of Predators goals could have been avoided had we done so.
