Carshalton U10s

1 Jack L

Worcester Park Colts

WSYL -  4th December 2005

The return game, from our opening game of the season brought together second and third in a very tight game which produced another draw.

Carshalton had Worcester Park under siege straight from the kick off and did not have to wait long before taking the lead through a Jack L penalty for a handball. Carshalton continued to have the upper hand, but the boys were having one pass too many around the box, rather than shoot when the opening was there, giving the Worcester Park defence the opportunity to close down our space. If only we had taken our chances, rather than pass, all points could have been ours.

The start of the second half found us half awake, with us failing to defend convincingly, and struggling to clear the danger first time. It was through our own lapse that Worcester Park drew level, with an unmarked player being left alone, to come into our box unchallenged, before striking the ball home. Worcester Park probably had the edge in the second half, and were more determined than us to get that winning goal, with chances created at both ends.

Perhaps this was due to the boys anxiety caused by adult tension on the side-lines.

Overall, a draw was probably a fair result.
