WSYL - 5th February 2006
The game started with both teams evenly balanced and cancelling each other out, in the battle to gain the upper hand. Kew had improved vastly from our earlier encounter.
Gradually we began to gain the advantage with our passing and movement which had been lacking in recent weeks ,as we started to open up the Kew defence. As more and more chances were falling our way it was just a case of waiting for that first goal. We had to wait until the 15th minute before we were finally got under way after some good saves from Kew’s goalkeeper and last ditch blocks from their defence. Goals 2 & 3 followed soon after as we sailed into a 3 – 0 half time lead.
As we started the new half we were in total control, as we opened up the Kew defence with some great passing moves and clinical finishing from our 3 strikers who grabbed all the goals between them . Mark & Jack L both deserved to have scored from the efforts they had on goal, but unfortunately their luck was not with them today. Kew continued to battle to the end despite the goals they were conceding with great encouragement from their manager.
This was a great result for us as Kew in the previous week had only lost 1-0 to our cup final opposition Worcester Park. It was very pleasing to see us back to our old self, with our passing and movement and keeping possession. Lets hope we can maintain this now for the remainder of the season.
Well done boys.
