Surrey Youth League - 16 March 2008
What with a lovely morning!! Rainy, windy and not the nicest of days to be playing football on. Our under 11s took to Carshalton’s second team pitch for the second week running with confidence and enthusiasm and looked to take it to Kew Park Rangers. With one or two changes in the starting line up with Ben and Thomas returning, the lads got the ball down and played some lovely creative football. It didn’t take long to break the deadlock, with some neat play on the right from Charlie who fed Sam through. Sammy got his shot away early and lobbed the goalkeeper from about ten yards in from the far corner.
Billy, whose four goals last week helped us claim victory, was unlucky not to get in on the act early as his shots fell wide and just over the cross bar. Owen and Webber as full backs where using the space to their advantage and both played some lovely balls up to the forwards and also made some dazzling runs. Sam then added a second with his never give up attitude ran through the back four and fired home to give us a calm lead. With chances flying in, Thomas shooting just wide and Omar testing the keeper, we went into half time with our heads held high. Confidence was high and the boys looking to get out there and create more chances and add more goals. Jack explained to the boys - now's the time we need to be more professional get the ball down and work with it.
So into the second half with Levi trying his luck was unlucky with his shot the tested the keeper. Thomas who had returned after time out worked his socks off, and when a ball from Ben found Charlie on the right he fed Thomas in who rounded the goalie and passed to Sam to score his hat trick. Some lovely teamwork from all the boys.
Billy then added our fourth with a ball from Franz over the top gave Bill the opportunity to bring it down and use his pace to his advantage as he also slotted the ball round the keeper then ran onto it to calmly place it in the net. James who had not a lot to do, was forced into an early save but dealt with it very well. So a substitute was made and George B replaced George W and filled in very well with some nice passes and some clever play down the right with Charlie. Thomas then added a lovely taken goal with a finish into the far corner giving the keeper no chance. We then got a free kick within shooting distance, so up stepped Franz and from 25 yards he forced the keeper into catching the ball - very good strike just a bit unlucky. Charlie who had been out on the right decided he wanted in on the act adding the 6th as the corner was whipped in by Levi, George who had come back on for Ben, found himself and Charlie with the ball on the edge of the box and as the ball fell to them Charlie took control and his shot slightly deflected off their defender and wrong footed the goalie.
A wonderful performance all round, and some lovely football from a great up and coming under 11s side.
