Aldershot Town

Surrey Youth & U21 League - 17th September 2006

Well we are at least on the board now, but really we should have collected all three points on offer.  We gifted Aldershot Town 2 goals in the first half, and just didn't seem to get the rub of the green.  However, in the second half we produced a stirring display to haul ourselves back into contention and with just a bit of luck we should really have wrapped up all 3 points.

Our goals were scored by the strikers.  David got what he deserved for his brave performance all game and he planted a powerful drive into the far corner after some fine individual work created the opening.  Simon's equaliser was the assured finish of a player confident in his own abilities - a fine drive from just inside the box while running at full pace.

After a jittery opening 20 minutes, the defence settled down and kept Aldershot at bay throughout the second half.  Our midfield looked to have a much better shape in the second half.  Mitch and Luke became more influential as the game went on, while Jake and Arran wide were stretching their defence.

We've still a long way to go, but there was definite progress in the standard of play and attitude on the pitch from the previous week.  Let's keep that progress going.

The game was refereed very fairly and consistently by Lenny and our thanks for doing this.  Thanks also to John Michael for running the line.  Many thanks to all those who put the goals up and took them down without any prompting again.  Also to all those who helped in the kitchen, particularly Colette, Kirsty and Tracey.  Thanks also to those who supported the kitchen.  Next time lets see everyone up there for at least a cup of tea and a chinwag.
