West Surrey Youth League Premier North Division -  25th September 2005

I could hear Alan Hansen screaming inside my head.

Less than 5 minutes in, weak back pass, 0-1 down.  Defensively, it didn’t get a lot better than that.  Communication?  I’ve heard more talking in a library.  Must improve on that before next week.

Up front we didn’t fare a lot better.  The effort, the strength and the skill were all there (in various measures) but the final touch was not.  Every shot on target was met by the Claygate keeper, when we followed in, he held it, when we didn’t he parried it.  The two shots he didn’t take care of were dealt with by one of the defenders (good clearance) and a combination of crossbar and goalpost for the other.

This week’s consolation goal was scored by Robbie.  I’ll spare you the rest of the detail.  Suffice to say Claygate were the better team and I look forward to visiting them later in the season.  Hopefully, by then we will have rediscovered the form we had last season.

Cheam Town away next week at the Met Police Sports Ground in East Molesey, where they have a very nice bar. Let’s hope we’ll have something to celebrate.

C’mon Carshalton!
