West Wickham

1

Carshalton U15

3 Chris Tupper 2, Luke Adams

Friendly – 8th September 2002

This game was the final warm up match in Carshalton's pre season preparation and was anticipated to be the hardest test for the all new Carshalton squad.  As soon as the game opened it was clear that both sides were determined to make a game of it with the initial twenty minutes being real end to end stuff.

After a sustained period of Carshalton pressure the deadlock was broken when Chris Tupper shot home following the Wickham goal keeper's excellent reaction save to Tupper's first shot.  Wickham restarted, clearly knocked by the Carshalton goal and Carshalton scored two further goals comprising a perfectly timed lob over the Wickham goal keeper by Chris Tupper and an excellent headed goal from Luke Adams.

When the second half resumed both sides had made changes to their formations and Wickham had much more of the play.  Wickham still struggled to breakdown the superb Carshalton defence and even when they did get through, Mark Cowhig in goal  pulled off some outstanding saves.  Wickham did manage a consolation goal but the final score was a true reflection of the run of play
