League – 10th November 2002

The game against Carshalton Rangers was a test for both sides as it gave the newly promoted Rangers their first real test and for Carshalton Juniors it gave the opportunity to see if they could keep their excellent opening unbeaten run going.

The game opened and Rangers looked good.  Juniors were finding it difficult to get into their stride.  However, it did not take long before Juniors settled and started playing the flowing football we have come  to expect.  Jack Goodman, Luke Adams, Stevie Greenslade and David Booth looked increasingly comfortable in defence and were settling into the side.  Jack Mesure opened Juniors' account with an excellent headed effort and Tyson Philips followed this with a well taken goal to move Juniors on to two nil.

At this point Juniors looked very comfortable and were putting together some very good moves which were making the Rangers defence look rushed and increasingly nervous. Half time came and went and shortly after the rest, Jack Mesure scored again to put the game beyond doubt.  Aaron Williams, who had battled well in midfield, closed the door completely on Rangers with a shot from 20 yards that left the Rangers' goalkeeper without hope and Juniors moved to 4-0.

The pleasing thing for the Juniors management was that when they brought on Darren Wells, Richard Matthews and Mark Pucek,  the team remained well balanced.  This was a testimony to the strength and depth of the squad.

Graham Polley said afterwards that he was delighted with the effort everyone put in.  Well done
