Carshalton U16s

2 Tyson Phillips, Jack Mesure

WSYL - 14th March 2004

This week saw the lads travel to Woking.  We had already been told that there would be no changing rooms and with the weather poor Graham Polley insisted on having sufficient time to properly warm the boys up.  As a result the game kicked off late.  The high winds played their part and made life difficult for both sides.  Woking are a well skilled outfit and were determined to make a fight of it.

At first the game was relatively even with Carshalton probably having more of the play.  The Carshalton defence looked sound with Bradley fitting in well in his first game for Carshalton.  Captain Darren Wells was helping him and the defence looked very assured as ever - after all  we have only conceded 4 goals in the League and you could see why.

As the game progressed the engine room (messrs Coombes and Williams) began  to settle and compete for everything.   Rob Turner was making some good runs and Jack Mesure and Tyson looked threatening.  Indeed both strikers scored to give Carshalton the result.   The quality is just waiting for an excuse to show through.  Next week is the time, boys.

Next week is the biggest game of the season so far.  We play Tooting & Mitcham in the semi final of the Surrey Cup.  If ever we need each and every one of the boys to hit top form, its next week.  Come on lads - believe, work for each other, be first to the ball, no moaning, just get on with the game - remember when a referee makes a decision he will not change his mind.   Just show everyone how good you are.  Teamwork and your skill will win the day.

Parents and friends please come along and support the lads.  Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.
