Carshalton U16s

2 Ollie Adams, Jack Mesure

WSYL - 4th April 2004

Unfortunately I missed the first 15 minutes of this game and Oliver Adams' goal.  However, when I did arrive it soon became clear that the Carshalton boys were up for this match.  It was great to see Carshalton hit top form with every player playing at their very best.  The hunger has returned and the self belief was back.

To a certain extent this was the battle of the Fulham coaches with Mr Murphy for Corinthians and Mr Booth using all his skills to help the Carshalton players.  Pete, you and Mark certainly delivered today.  The main thing for Carshalton was the old style of play – hunting in packs - was back big time.  To be honest the Corinthians lads who are a great side did not know which way to turn.  When they got the ball they were immediately confronted by two Carshalton lads snapping at them.  Quality, quality that is what we saw today.

If I had to single out two events of this match it was Rob Turner's excellent strike on goal – Rob if that had gone in it would have been my goal of the season -  and Mark Cowhigs save - Gordon Banks eat your heart out - Cowhig went one better.

The game was wrapped up by Jack Mesure who made it 2-0 – Jack you do not appreciate just how much you put in – stop beating yourself up.  You are a match winner!  As to the rest of the lads, well one phrase springs to mind TEAM EFFORT.  Unbeaten on the field of play for nearly a year says it all, confidence starting to return and self belief just about there.  Yes we have a difficult run in but with all that is going for you I know you can and will deliver.

Why am I so confident?  Simple – great players, great manager, great coaches, and GREAT FANS.  Let's do it lads.  Let's deliver.

Finally I would just like to say a big well done to Corinthians. You lads never stopped battling and you are a credit to your Club – thank you.
