WSYL – 7th December 2003

Not our most convincing performance, but we did do enough to win deservedly in the end.  Manorcroft caught us very cold at the start as we stood and watched them play.  They dominated the first 10 minutes until Owen came on as substitute to shore up the defence.  Though Manorcroft played well, they were unable to get a shot on target throughout the game.  They certainly deserved to get something out of the first 10 minutes.

When we did take the lead it was against the run of play.  Jordan rode a couple of challenges and drove a shot at the near post, which went through the keeper's hands and into the net.  It should be pointed out that this was their keeper's only mistake and he played well thereafter, making some important saves.

That turned the game in our favour.  Jordan added a second after some excellent work by Arran, tucking home Arran's square ball with aplomb.  We camped in their half for the rest of the first period but failed to pass the ball as we can.

In the second half the game became more physical with both sides making some excellent challenges.  Manorcroft gifted us our third when a pass by a defender across his own goal was stabbed into the roof of the net by the predatory Lewis.

A disappointing performance because of our lack of teamwork and passing.  We will need to be at our very best when we visit Whitton Town next week.

Thanks to the visiting supporters and management for encouraging the players and showing such a good example to the kids.  We look forward to visiting them at the start of next year.
