WSYL – 22nd February 2004

It is difficult to know how this one ended goalless.  Carshalton dominated the first half and virtually camped in the Manorcroft half for the whole of the second half, but could not seize on a number of chances.  Full credit must go to Manorcroft who defended resolutely and whose keeper had an inspired game.  Arran was in inspired form, especially in the first half, with a number of fine runs down the right and excellent crosses.  Unfortunately we were unable to apply a finish.

Everyone played their part in another exciting game that (almost) kept the spectators warm on a bitterly cold afternoon.  Dan made a couple of brave saves when called upon as we were caught on the break a couple of times.  We were chancing it a bit by only playing one at the back in the second half, but Conor had another composed game there.  We hit the post in the second half, but as the game wore on, it just seemed like it was going to be one of those days.

The Management were delighted with the attitude of all the players and pleased to see the never-say-die approach that the boys had during and after the game.  Though this was a couple of points dropped, which we should have taken, we have to hold our hands up and praise the Manorcroft side who dug deep and showed some real resilience, where other sides might have weakened.

A thoroughly entertaining game with 2 sets of players giving their all, and excellently supported by parents and friends - exactly how it should be.  We hope Jordan recovers from tonsilitis before next Sunday and that Luke's nose recovers after a nasty blow with the ball from point blank range.  Get well soon.
