Carshalton U9s

2 Ben Stokoe 2

Friendly – 27th March 2004

A much improved performance by Carshalton - perhaps we were getting used to playing in maroon!  We played at a much higher tempo and looked dangerous throughout the game.  All goals came in the first half.  Carshalton took the lead when a corner was brilliantly flicked into the net at the near post by Ben Stokoe - a training ground move!  The second was slotted home from close range, again by Ben.  Chipstead cut the deficit when we went to sleep for just about the only time in the game and gave their midfielder acres of room in the box.  He finished well.

The rest of the game was another good advert for U9s football with both teams trying to play the game on the ground and in great spirit.  Joseph starred in defence with easily his best game of the season.  As for Ben - just exactly what did you have for breakfast?  He was magnificent.   He came on in the first half and was everywhere, tackling, dribbling and notching both goals.  Everyone can be proud of their performances on a day, when the managers asked some searching questions following the 3-6 defeat to Chipstead in our last game.  We were very happy with the response.

Chipstead certainly played their part in what was a well contested friendly.  Congratulations go to their management for their friendly approach and the positive atmosphere at their club.  We wish them well for the rest of their season.
