2 Tony van Emst, Chris Moggridge

Friendly – 16th November 2002

This was a good win against a young and committed Chelsea team who never gave up.  The pitch at Barn Elms was playable but bumpy and so it was sometimes difficult for the footballers in the side to control and to pass the ball accurately.  It did not affect my game!

We took the lead after 10 minutes when a mistake by their defence allowed Tony Van Emst to chip from the edge of the area into the net.  Although Chelsea had a lot of possession, they only had two real chances in the first half which included a great save from Martin Wilson.  After the break the game was quite even with both sides having chances.  However, we were relieved when Chris Moggridge scored a second with a drive from outside the area 10 minutes from the end.  This was a fine team performance against a good set of lads with whom we shared the odd drink up the road at the Red Lion after the match.
