Old Tiffinians

Carshalton Vets

5 Gavin Dykes 4, Tony van Emst

Friendly – 8th February 2003

Believe it or not, we had to work hard for this win against a younger side, and it was not until 15 minutes into the second half when we scored a second goal, that we could relax.  The team has played well lately and there is an excellent spirit about the side.  Whilst Tiffinians created a couple of chances in the first half playing down the slope, they defended well whenever we created chances.  However, they were unable to do anything about Gavin Dykes curling left footed shot from outside the area which gave us the lead.

In the second half. we passed and kept the ball very well and Tiffinians found it hard to get back in the game.  A further 3 goals from Gavin and a fine volley from Tony van Emst gave us a comfortable victory.  It was good to see Shorty again who had not played for a year... it certainly didn't show.

We went to the" Fox on the River" just down from Hampton Court before returning home.  The main topic was whether Gavin got  4 goals or was it 3 and an o.g.?  The majority thought the latter, but incessant pressure from Dykes himself, forced us to concede.....only so that we could talk about something different!
