This was a vast improvement on last week's performance when we lost to Old Pastovians. Each player approached this game with an excellent attitude because we knew that if we were not focused, then we would continue our losing run against this strong revamped Nat West side who had only lost once this season. We marked well in the first half and we took the lead in the first ten minutes when Peter Culham's cross shot beat their keeper. The game was evenly balanced with chances at both ends, but we kept our discipline and went further ahead when from a corner by Gavin Dykes was met on the volley to score an excellent goal. Nat West replied just before half time when our marking let us down , but in fairness it was a well worked goal.
Changes were made at half time which may have initially contributed to the uncertainty at the back and within ten minutes Nat West had equalised. At that point it seemed that they would take control, but in fact we worked hard and went ahead with a lobbed shot from Mike Briggs. From then on we played some good football and went close on several occasions.
Special mention must be paid to Shorty who controlled the game from the back, making sure everyone was working hard. It was an excellent team performance and doing the washing up afterwards wasn't even a chore!!
