Friendly – 6th September 2003
First game of the season and the Vets team had a strange look about it. In the line up were Trevor Boughton, Richard Verlander [drinking till 4-30 am that morning], John Thoroughgood and a couple of new faces in Ross Kelly and Gareth. We played at Richardson Evans ground on quite a bumpy pitch and it was a game we should have won, but we were unable to convert three good chances.However, Wandsworth were not a bad side and had a few quick players in the right positions. The game looked as if it would end in a draw, but a late goal caused by us giving the ball away deep in our half resulted in their goal when their winger followed up a fine save by stand in goalkeeper Terry Jones
