Friendly – 4th October 2003
Although we lost this match, the game was very competitive and we had at least 4 good chances of scoring. It was good to have George Holloway back in the team, but also to welcome new players Phil Williamson and Wayne Stone, both of whom played well. We had two chances to take the lead in the first half before Dean Parfitt had to go off, having received a cut on the head. Ian Newman replaced him and did well. In the second half, Natwest came more into the game and their centre back struck an unstoppable shot from 25 yards to give them the lead. 15 mins later they increased it when they scored from a penalty following a trip in the area. Shaggy struck a great shot which was deflected onto the crossbar and Ian Newman missed by inches with a close range header. Disappointed to lose, but not disappointed with the performance.Jim Finn
