Friendly – 15th October 2005
This was an excellent game played on a wonderful Pitch 3. It has never looked better. Our visitors are new opposition and are Army officers which is a bit worrying for us all, as some turned up 20 mins late, despite having a map!
They were a good side, but this season we have learned to work hard together and Saturday was no different. They scored a good headed goal in the first half, but we hit back with goals from Chris Moggridge and Gavin Dykes. In the second half John Shaw made his first appearance for the club and played very well. The Army equalised half way through the second spell, but we nearly won it when Peter Culham’s shot was well saved by their goalkeeper. However, a draw was a fair result.
The opposition were great , but they could not stay long as some had come as far afield as Salisbury for this match. Many thanks to Alan for refereeing and it was also good to see Ray Challis and Tony Van Emst down supporting the team.Jim Finn
