Friendly – 5th November 2005
Saturday’s game was quite unusual as we had 18 players who were available. We managed to trim this down to 13, thanks to several players kindly stepping down for this game. We started off well for the first quarter of an hour, but then we did lose our shape and our tight marking for some of the half. We had several chances in the first half and only a reflex save from Poly’s goalkeeper from a Trevor Boughton volley prevented us from taking the lead. However, shortly afterwards, Sam Karlsson scored our goal from close range. Wayne Stone brought off a couple of good saves from breakaway shots from the opposition which were causing us concern.
We prevented Poly from making these breaks in the second half and with John Shaw now having an impact in his midfield role, we created several more chances, but did not manage to convert them. Well done Poly for not giving up and causing us a few problems and thanks as always to Alan Lawrance for refereeing this game
