The Norm’s Analysis of the Carshalton Vets v Army Cursaders Match

In summary, we were beaten by a fitter, younger, more determined and more focussed team. The weather was awful (particularly in the second half when it became very dark and the rain came down in sheets) and the ground was muddy and puddling. We didn’t play as well as they did and that is why we lost.

In view of the fact that we lost 4-1 (and it could have been much worse has it not been for some impressive acrobatics from Dave Aldridge in goal), and in view of the fact that some people are still only on Chapter 7, page 296 of the match report for the Temple Bar game, and in view of the fact that some people say I write far too much and too much of it is rubbish anyway, I have decided to present my match report of the game in the style of Sky Sports match analysis (with graphics courtesy of Andy Gray):

Fig.1 Carshalton attempts on goal

Fig.2 Army Crusader’s shots (and goals) and the Carshalton goal (Tony G)

Fig.3 Chris M’s two longest dribbling runs (blue 1st half, red 2nd half) and points at which he finally lost the ball (X); and our midfield movement (apart from Chris M’s 2 dribbles) during match (green)

[p.s. Now go on to read next week’s report (Blackheath Wanderers) where Chris Mogridge scores a couple of flukey goals and I go on to score a magnificent winning goal and thus become the acclaimed hero of the day]

[p.p.s   Don’t take notice of any envy driven suggestions in the Blackheath report to the effect that my magnificent goal was a cross which the goalkeeper missed]
